Samsung Grand Prime Review

Samsung Grand Prime

As the trend of clicking selfies is on the rise, manufacturers are coming up with selfie focused smartphones and one such device that was launched earlier this week is from Samsung. The South Korean tech giant launched the Galaxy Grand Prime in India for a price of Rs 15,499. Furthermore, Samsung touts this device as selfie focused smartphone as it comes with such a front-facing unit onboard. Design wise, there isn’t anything exciting about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and looks more or less like Grand 2 or Grand Neo or even the newer budget phones like Core 2 Duos. Having said that the design is pretty decent for a mid range phone and the phone sits perfectly in hand as it is slimmer to hold than the Moto G.Coming to our review.

Our Review

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime flaunts a usual 5 inch qHD display that has a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 220 pixels per inch. This screen is pretty basic for the pricing of the smartphone, but it should be suitable basic tasks.Fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat, the handset is packed with the standard connectivity features such as dual SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.The phone runs on Snapdragon Quad Core 410 processor with 1GB RAM and this is slightly better than the Snapdragon 400 powering the Moto G and Lumia 730. The performance of the device is really smooth and lag free. Switching between apps and opening apps are pretty fast. App drawer open even faster than the one on Moto G with almost core Android. The chief attractions of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime are its cameras, especially the one at the front. The smartphone is laden with an 8MP autofocus camera and LED flash at the rear end so that you can capture quality images and videos. It is expected to come with other standard features found in powerful cameras. It can also shoot full HD videos at 30fps. On the front, there is a nice 5MP camera which apart from supporting video calls reproduces brilliant self portraits. In addition to the 8GB onboard storage capacity of the device, the phone houses a microSD slot.he battery capacity of the Samsung phone is 2,600 mAh that is pretty standard in devices with similar pricing. Also, this battery is rated to pump in a backup of up to 17 hours on 3G.he upcoming generation is developing an obsession at capturing and sharing selfies and Samsung is trying to benefit from it with the Galaxy Grand Prime. It is evident from the 5MP front camera which is complemented by an 8MP shooter on the back. It also has a robust Snapdragon processor and 1GB RAM to take care of multitasking efficiently. The non HD display is one area of worry though.
