Moto X Gen 2 Unveiled With 5 2 Inch Display and Snapdragon 801 SoC

Motorola launched the second generation of its popular Moto G and Moto X devices on Friday, called the Moto G (Gen 2) and Moto X (Gen 2).

While the company has announced India pricing and availability of the Moto G (Gen 2), it has yet to disclose the pricing for the Moto X (Gen 2) in India - though Motoroladid say it will be made available by the end of the month. The company however has disclosed US pricing at $499.99 (roughly Rs. 30,200) unlocked, and $99.99 (roughly Rs. 6,000) on a 2-year contract across select carriers.

Both phones are powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and the company has confirmed it will roll out an Android L update for the two devices - however, there was no mention made of such an update for the previous generation.

Motorola did mention that the previous generation Moto G, Moto X, and Moto E will remain available on Flipkart, but will be phased out with time.

The Moto X (Gen 2) will be made available in two storage size variants - 16GB and 32GB, with no expandability via microSD card slot. It features a 5.2-inch (1080x1920 pixel) OLED display with a pixel density of 423 ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The new Moto X is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974-AC) processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.25 lens with 4K video recording and dual-LED ring flash, as well a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of 1080p video recording.

Like the Moto G (Gen 2), the Moto X (Gen 2) features dual-front speakers, above and below the display. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 80211.ac, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack. It measures 140.8x72.4x9.97mm, and weighs 144 grams. It is powered by a 2300mAh battery.

Samsung Eyeing Galaxy S5 by April 2014 Eye Scanner Unveiled

Samsung is planning to unveil its next smartphone Galaxy S5 by April 2014 and most likely will introduce an eye scanner technology for the first time producing high-end devices to compete with Apples iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is also supposed to be paired with the latest wearable device "Galaxy Gear SmartWatch". Last year Apple released iPhone 5S and 5C in September including a fingerprint scanner in 5S. This time Samsung is considering to include an eye scanner in its high-end devices.

Lee Seung Woo, an analyst from IBK securities said that "The release of the S5 will be very important to Samsung, and the Competition is going to intensify, and its not going to be an easy year for the company.". According to her the design of the next Galaxy S5 is going to be different from its previous versions.

Motorola Moto E 2015 official image unveiled

A first image would reveal the alleged Motorola Moto E 2015, which is the second generation of the first Moto E that perhaps this year will become a smartphone midrange low with LTE connectivity.

Some rumors a few weeks ago, right at the end of December 2014, indicated that in the first months of 2015 would come on the market, the second generation of the Motorola Moto E, and were already shown some interesting changes in terms of hardware.

In confirmation of this news was posted on the web a first image render that would incorporate the Motorola Moto E 2015 with LTE connectivity, which will be one of the main new features of this product, moving from outdated 3G to 4G.

On paper, the second-generation model Motorola Moto E 2015 will also have a slightly larger display that you should settle on the 4.3-inch diagonal with a resolution of 960 x 540, since there are previous rumors of a Motorola Moto E Styx that display with 4, 3 inches and the same resolution.

From the point of view of performance there should be changes here as well; chipset that will use the 2015 model should pass it by a dual-core architecture with a quad core, even if we do not know if it will be a chip with support for 64bit or not, but the possibility of using a Snapdragon 410 with four core Cortex A53 would not be a remote possibility; provided 1GB of RAM.

Motorola Moto E will surely since its debut as the operating system Android 5.0 Lollipop latest version, or at least the penultimate and we hope that will have a list price very similar to the current Moto E, so it could be about 130-140 euro.

We do not know if Motorola decides to show to the public some of its new smartphones for 2015; In fact we are also waiting for news on the Moto G 2015 that you should have an edge over the Moto E in the middle range.

We’ll see if during the MWC 2015 in Barcelona to be held in March, the Chinese company / American decide to make a nice surprise to the public announced two new smartphones; there is no certainty, but the hope is the last to die.
