Alleged iPhone 6 Manufacturing Mold Points to a 4 7 Inch Display

In addition to several photos over the weekend surfaced manufacturing molds that being used for the shaping of the iPhone 6, the images were free of the dimentions, so that we could determine or estimate the size of the device. A new photo shared by Nowhereelse.fr shows a nearly identical mold with an iPhone 4s placed next to it for comparison. The report claimed that based on comparison calculations, the mold could in fact yield a device with a display of roughly 4.7-inches, in line with iPhone 6 rumored size.
Some of the holes that were drilled into the block in fact serve to fix the inserts which will form a crude which is then machined housing (finishes) using a CNC milling machine. Thus, and assuming that my theory is correct, the dimensions of the box will be determined by the widest part and not the bottom of the mold.
In this assumption, I started to resize the photo to scale against me in reference to the size of the iPhone 4s. I then measured the dimensions of the widest part of the mold which is approximately 138mm long by 64mm wide.
by superimposing and resizing the image of an iPhone 5s into the mold and aligning it with the wider portion of the depression, Nowwhereelse.fr confirmed that device’s screen would be roughly 12 centimeters or 4.7 inches diagonally.
Apple is expected to launch a 4.7 inch iPhone in September followed by a larger 5.5-inch model shortly after. Jefferies analyst Peter Misek reported that Apple is negotiating with carriers for a $100 price increase on the iPhone 6 as the device gets larger and with more technology into it.

Solid report claims Apple’s iPhone 6 will finally feature a bigger 4 8 inch display
With the iPhone 5s launch behind us, industry watchers are now turning up the heat as they sniff around for details on next year’s iPhone 6. We have already seen a few early reports from multiple solid sources suggest Apple will finally make the move to a larger display in next year’s iPhone 6, and now another report from a well-respected source suggests Apple is indeed finally getting ready to satisfy critics and launch a smartphone with a larger screen.
Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek on Monday issued a research note to investors in which he reversed course on Apple. Misek previously had a Hold rating on Apple shares with a $450 price target, but he’s now bullish on Apple’s prospects. As a result, Misek upped his target to $600 on Monday morning and slapped a Buy rating on Apple’s stock.
There are a few reasons for the analyst’s change of heart, one of which is that his supply chain sources indicate that Apple is getting more favorable prices from its component suppliers. This is a change from Misek’s position earlier this year and if accurate, it would obviously boost Apple’s bottom line. Beyond margins, however, the analyst says Apple is finally going to cave and launch an iPhone 6 with a bigger display.
“Despite still seeing risk to CQ4 and FY13 revs, we now believe better [gross margins] will allow Apple to skate by until iPhone 6 launches with its 4.8″ screen,” Misek wrote in the note. ”We est ~50% of smartphone shipments have >4″ screens and that iPhone 6 will catalyze a large upgrade cycle. The stock is attractive based on the attitude change, FY15 revs >+15%, and valuation.”
Misek has had a few good calls regarding unreleased Apple products in the past, and he is considered by many to be among the top analysts covering Apple right now. That certainly doesn’t make an iPhone 6 with a 4.8-inch display a done deal, but it adds fuel to earlier reports from The Wall Street Journal and plugged in KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo.
Apple shares jumped more than 1% on Misek’s report.

iPhone 6 Announcement Sees Japanese Apple Fans Already Queueing Up
It may still be several days before they can even order a new iPhone and more than a week until they can pick it up, but dedicated fans in Japan have already begun queueing.
In a country known for taking its hobbies extremely seriously, Apple acolytes in Tokyo began bagging their spots on the pavement days before the world knew what the California tech giant had up its sleeve.
Tetsuya Tamura, 45, and his 20-year-old son set up camp outside the companys flagship store in glitzy Ginza on Saturday, and had to wait until the small hours of Wednesday to hear about the Apple Watch and the two new iPhone models.
"The unveiling of the Apple Watch here was very tense. Everyone said, Yeah, they did it!," said Tamura, an office worker who has taken time off work to queue.

He proudly told AFP he works weekends to build up credit, and spends it every year on his Apple vigil.
Around a dozen pop-up seats were lined up on the pavement outside the store, surrounded by camping equipment, suitcases and even a rubber Steve Jobs mask.
Kajigaya Takuya, a 30 year old comedian, arrived Tuesday to join the line.
He said despite difficulties sleeping through a chilly Tokyo night, he had been having fun so far.
"The staff at the Apple Store are kind, they let us charge our iPads and iPhones, and we can use the toilet in the shop," he said.
Takuya said he enjoys the challenge of waiting outside to be among the first to touch the device, which is also available in gold.
"Of course, you need patience, its like climbing a mountain in the end you feel as if youve achieved something, I think its great," he said.
In China, which is not going to get the iPhone 6 until a week later, Internet users stayed up late to watch the live feed of the unveiling, with many joking about selling internal organs to fund a purchase.
"Good morning everyone. I have two kidneys. One is for urgent sale next week for theiPhone 6 Plus. The other is to be sold in four months time for the Apple Watch. First come, first served," quipped one.
In 2012, a Chinese teenager had his kidney removed to fund the purchase of an iPhoneand an iPad. That led to the arrest of members of an illegal organ trading group.
Despite the furore over the launch, there was some doubt as to the real significance of the news to the technology sector, with many pointing out that there was nothing very cutting edge about the new products.
Japanese Twitter users questioned the originality of the phones contactless cash feature, Apple Pay, pointing out that mobiles in Japan have had this feature for years.
And Twitter user @sinomoritsukasa couldnt see what all the fuss was about, having made his own Apple Watch, carved from an actual apple.

Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro With 6 inch QHD Display Launched at Rs 32 999
Lenovo on Tuesday launched the Vibe Z2 Pro in India, priced at Rs. 32,999. The phablet will be made available exclusively via Flipkart on October 6.
The Vibe Z2 Pro was announced last month with an expected availability of September. The Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro sports a 6-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixel) display, which will be up against the likes of the LG G3 and Oppo Find 7, which also sport QHD displays.
It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with the companys proprietary Vibe UI 2.0 on top. The Vibe Z2 Pro supports dual-SIM functionality, and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8974AC) 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, coupled with 3GB of RAM. Currently, the flagship devices currently in India from HTC, LG, Samsung, and Sony are powered by the same SoC series.
The new Lenovo flagship packs a 16-megapixel rear camera and also houses a 5-megapixel front camera. The Vibe Z2 Pros rear camera comes with OIS (optical image stabilization), 4K video recording functionality, and dual LED flash.
There is 32GB of inbuilt storage on the Vibe Z2 Pro, which is non-expandable. It also supports NFC connectivity. The smartphone comes with a large 4000mAh battery with no word on talk time and standby time. It was launched in Black, Gold and Titanium colour variants.
When the company had first sent out invites for Tuesdays event last week, Lenovo was expected to also launch the Vibe X2, which was recently unveiled at IFA 2014earlier this month alongside the Vibe Z2, and was claimed to be the worlds first layered smartphone with its tri-layered design.
The dual-SIM version of the Vibe X2 features a 5-inch (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with Vibe UI 2.0. The Lenovo Vibe X2 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6595m processor.

Apple will launch the iPhone 6 16GB variant in India at a price of Rs. 53,500, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will start at Rs. 62,500. The phones will be available in India starting October 17, in line with the date that was last seen on Apples India website. Apple authorised dealers will start taking pre-orders next week, with customers who pre-book receiving their units on 16th night itself.
NDTV Gadgets has seen emails Apple authorised dealers are sending out to customers which mention the price and availability details.
The 64GB and 128GB 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will be priced at Rs. 62,500 and Rs. 71,500 respectively. Similarly, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will cost Rs. 71,500 for the 64GB variant, before topping at Rs. 80,500 for the 128GB variant.
NDTV Gadgets had independently heard the same price and availability information earlier this week, but wed been waiting for verification from other sources before sharing with our readers. Needless to say, Apple India refused to comment for this story.
