Prices On The Black Market For Gold iPhones Are Completely Insane

gold iphone 5s

Apples inability to supply the insane demand for the new gold iPhone 5S has created a second-hand iPhone price bubble on eBay and a black market of gold iPhone scalpers in China.

One gold iPhone just sold on eBay for $10,100.

Its not clear why Apple cant give everyone who wants one a gold iPhone. Officially, online orders with Apple wont be fulfilled until October. We noted over the weekend that the gold iPhone  never actually existed in some stores, countries, and among some wireless carriers. The flagship Apple Store in San Francisco, for instance, only ever had 20 gold iPhones.

With the gold iPhone completely unavailable to ordinary consumers minutes after it went on sale, some have turned to eBay, where gold iPhones are selling for as much as $4,600 at the time of writing (pack of three). Thats the highest ask, but in active auctions gold iPhones are seeing brisk bidding all the way up to $2,247. One single gold iPhone eventually sold for a staggering $10,100.

In China, a gold iPhone on the "gray market" will cost you the equivalent of $1,634, about twice the price of retail. Scalpers were buying gold iPhones in Hong Kong on the day of sale for US$1,161, still more than the $721 original price tag.

Lastly, a company called Gold Genie is selling a real gold-plated version of the iPhone starting at $2,850. An actual iPhone 5S isnt actually gold, of course. Its colored aluminum. Gold Genies version is actual gold plate:

Microsoft wants you to buy their products to start offering cash for iPhones

Earlier in the month, Microsoft -- which would love for you to pick up one of its new second-generation Surface 2 tablets -- began offering iPad owners a paltry US$200 or more for a trade-in in hopes that youd actually fall for the ploy, grab the cash and buy one of their beleaguered tablets.
Now Forbes is reporting that Microsoft will be offering you a minimum of $200 for your iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 at some of the US and Canadian Microsoft Stores.

In this case, the trade-in promotion is part of the #timetoswitch campaign, and Microsoft is hoping that youll ditch your nice and relatively new iPhone for a Windows Phone instead of an iPhone 5s or 5c. Not that Microsoft seems desperate or anything, but they also have an online campaign that started a few weeks ago where theyll take any Apple, Android or BlackBerry device in return for a Visa gift card. I wonder how much theyll give me for that third-generation iPod classic thats sitting on the shelf...

Forbes Kelly Clay said it best: "Apples impressive sales figures of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in the past few days mean millions of consumers are not only freshly tied into new contracts but overtly prefer the iOS platform over Windows as they waited to purchase the new line of iPhones -- and avoided purchasing a Windows Phone when they had the chance."

Its beginning to look like Microsofts business strategy for the near future is to become the leading vendor of used smartphones and tablets.

LifeProof launches first Touch ID compatible waterproof case for iPhone 5s

One particularly cruel Internet prank tricked some (hopefully few) iPhone owners into thinking that iOS 7 somehow made their devices waterproof. Thats ridiculous of course, but today LifeProof is launching a case for the iPhone 5s that actually does make the device impervious to water. The case is part of the "nuud" line from LifeProof, and it provides protection from water up to a depth of 6.6ft.

There is no shortage of waterproof cases for the iPhone 5 (or 5s, given that its dimensions are the same), but LifeProofs new protector is the first that is fully compatible with Touch ID, allowing fingerprint sensing through the waterproof layer. But for premium protection youll be paying a premium price: The iPhone 5s nuud case will set you back a cool $89.99US.

Toshiba releases ultra thin 20MP CMOS image sensor for high end smartphones

Toshiba released a brand new 20MP CMOS image sensor, designed specifically with high-end mobile devices in mind. Sporting the rather uninspiring model number T4KA7, the 1.12 micron component will allow the development of sub-6mm camera modules.
Toshiba T4KA7 has an optical size of 1/2.4” and features high-speed circuit technology that allows it to deliver 22fps at full resolution image capture. The aforementioned result represents an 83% improvement over Toshiba’s previous 20MP sensor.

The T4KA7 sensor has a pixel count of 5384 x 3752 pixels. Its advanced digital zoom capability prevents image quality deterioration even at high focal lengths.
Samples of the T4KA7 image sensor began shipping to Toshiba partners last month, priced at a tad under $20. Mass production of the component is expected to kick off in February 2015, so we can reasonably expect to see the T4KA7 in devices at some point in the middle of next year.

Bono makes an apology for the automatic U2 album download on iTunes

U2 members did a Facebook interview recently answering fan questions and inevitably, they were asked not to ever do another iTunes automatic album deal. The fan asking the question described it as “rude”, which really ticked the members. However, after that Bono went on to apologist on behalf of the group.

The band’s front man said he was sorry and that U2 got “carried away” as they were concerned that the music they’ve poured years of hard work into might remain unheard. Still, the $100 million deal between Apple and U2 is unlikely to drop.

U2′s latest album Songs of Innocence was downloaded automatically by every iTunes user following the update to iOS 8. The album reached 81 million users, many of which were angry at Apple for not giving them a choice whether to download it or not and the company had to create a special tool for removing it.

Sony Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond version now available for 645!

Sony

Upon its release last year, the Sony Xperia Z3 inaugurated two new colors green and copper at the expense of the disappearance of the purple one found on some models of the firm who’s Z2. While last week the Xperia Blog Site taught us a new color purple would soon be available in the Japanese market, the new color is now official.

This new model is still its effect; this Sony Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition is very successful. Too bad it also happens later knowing that Sony will soon present its Xperia Z4 which, against all odds, should be part of the new MWC 2015.

Sony

Moreover, this new edition of the Sony Xperia Z3 purple is only official in Japan, difficult to say whether or not it will be proposed at the international or only reserved for the Japanese market. A new color happens, anyway, like a hair in the soup, the Z3 has had the merit on its release to inaugurate the most original colors than those the Japanese manufacturer had accustomed us.

But that’s not all, it may well be that this new edition of Xperia Z3 that is accompanied Disney declination is already talk of an edition of the hit animated film The Snow Queen. I prefer to stay on the purple, but you see.

Sony

Of course, the most interesting here is that the price of Z3 slightly begins to fall, a trend likely to continue in anticipation of the arrival of the Z4. Meanwhile, the unit is still new and soon will receive its update to Android Lollipop scheduled for February.

Was it really wise for the Japanese to propose a new color while a new model will soon emerge? That remains to be seen, but as a consumer, we can only rejoice to have an additional option. This additional option will be priced at $ 645.

Sony Xperia Z3 - Purple Diamond version now available for $ 645!

Eyefi announces cloud service for its Mobi cards

Eyefi announced a private cloud service specifically for its Mobi SD cards. Eyefi cards have built-in Wi-Fi modems in them so they upload photos over the Internet even if your camera can’t. Anyway, with Eyefi Cloud photos will be uploaded and synced to any of your connected devices.
Even if you use multiple cameras everything will be synced in one place. This is both for cameras with Eyefi Mobi cards installed and for smart devices with the app installed.

The cloud part of the service keeps photos private but lets you share them with select contacts. They will be notified when new photos are available. The original images will be uploaded to the cloud so you’ll have an untouched copy even if you lose your camera or card.
Photos will be downloaded on all connected devices so that they are available offline too. You can review and curate the images, the changes will get synced when the device reconnects (this will give you something to do on the plane ride back home).
Eyefi Cloud works with Eyefi Mobi cards (8GB/16GB/32GB) and you start off with a three month trial period. After that it’s $50 a year though the company didn’t specify just how much cloud storage you’re getting for that.

The company published a blog post, saying that it has "discovered that Apples newiOS 8 introduces a compatibility issue that may prevent Dropbox and Carousel from properly uploading your photos and videos." It added that meant only the contents of the Recently Added album will be automatically uploaded.
Additionally, Dropbox includes a precautionary warning for those users who have upgraded their iOS devices to iOS 8, telling them not to delete photos or videos on the device unless sure they are backed up to Dropbox.

Dropbox didnt include any time frame to fix the issue, but said that the company is "in touch with Apple and are working together on a solution", and it will update iOS users on its blog or on Twitter (@dropbox_support) as soon as a full fix is ready.
Last month, Dropbox had added new features that will be available only to its Pro customers, along with a single Dropbox Pro plan at $9.99 (approximately Rs. 600) per month for 1TB storage.
Customers can also choose to pay $99 (approximately Rs. 6,000) per year for the new Pro plan and save another 17 percent compared to monthly billing. Dropbox offers 2GB of cloud storage for free, though customers can get more free space via referrals and other promotions.

So if you are the type that has a Blackberry device with HotSpot capability you can also use your Etisalat and Airtel hotstpot on your phone and share to your devices like tablet, Android & iOS phone and your PC. Etisalat BIS codes are shown below.
While some have argued that they are able to use GLO, Etisalat and MTN BIS on their Android, , iOS and Windows Phone smartphones and tablets, it may require additional tweaking and settings of your phone and its not guaranteed to work.

However, if you are successful in making other telecoms BIS apart from Airtel work for you, we would appreciate if you share how you go it to work on your phone or tablet.

If you still want to subscribe to GLO, MTN and Etisalat BIS plans then the best thing is to visit their web sites to know the latest package codes as these networks tend to change their rates and codes at times. MTN BIS have been reported to work on Android of recent (Sept. 25th 2013)

As promised am constantly monitoring when BlackBerry will release BBM for Android and iOS as a BlackBerry developer and would let you guys know immediately so that you would be among the first to download.
